Daños y Perjuicios

La recién licenciada Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) entra a trabajar en el bufete de Patty Hewes (Glenn Close), una agresiva y afamada abogada que siempre consigue lo que quiere a base de mover hilos, hacer llamadas y manipular a los demás. Y con Ellen no iba a ser diferente.

A base de una serie de flash-forwards, sabemos que al final de la primera temporada intentarán matar a Ellen y a su novio David (con él lo conseguirán). ¿Tendrá algo que ver con el caso que está llevando sobre Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson), un multimillonario que estafa a sus propios empleados? ¿O estará implicada la propia Patty y por qué?

En el pueblecito de Bon Temps, en la América profunda, la vida sería más tranquila si no fuera porque se trata de un lugar lleno de vampiros, hombres lobo y hombres cambiantes que viven abiertamente y, en principio, en son de paz con los humanos. Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) sirve como camarera en el bar de Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), pero esconde unos poderes increíbles: puede leer las mentes de los demás. Su hermano Jason (Ryan Kwanten) es un guaperas que siempre tiene líos de faldas y que trabaja reparando las carreteras de la localidad. Su amiga Tara (Rutina Wesley), que siempre anda metida en líos, también trabaja en el Merlotte, junto a su primo gay, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis).

Sookie, que vive junto a Jason y su abuela, vivirá un cambio radical en su vida cuando conozca a Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), un vampiro de unos 150 años que la trata de manera bondadosa y delicada, y a Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård), un malvado vampiro nórdico que también se ha encaprichado de Sookie. Ambos se pelearán por conseguir a la joven, lo cual traerá sangre, destrucción y muerte al pueblo.

Betty

Betty Suárez (America Ferrera) es una secretaria trabajora y eficiente. Pero es muy fea y su vestuario da risa. Y es que Betty trabaja para la  revista «Mode» y allí no ser guapa ni vestir con elegancia es un pecado. Precisamente por eso la eligió Bradford Meade, el presidente del emporio editorial Meade y propietario de la revista «Mode», para que trabaje como secretaria de su hijo Daniel (Eric Mabius), recién ascendido a jefe de «Mode». Daniel es todo un donjuán, y su padre le busca una secretaria con la que no tenga la tentación de acostarse. Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams), celosa por el ascenso de Daniel en la empresa, hará todo lo que esté en su mano para hacerle la vida imposible.

«Betty» es desde luego la mejor adaptación de la serie original, la serie colombiana «Yo Soy Betty, la Fea», de la cual también hubo versión española, «Yo Soy Bea», con el mito de chica-fea-se-convierte-en-cisne-y-se-liga-al-guapo-de-turno. Su humor fresco, la crueldad a la que es sometida la protagonista principal y su claro enfoque gay-friendly, con la malvada Wilhemina (Vanessa Williams), su ayudante gay, Marc (Michael Urie), o Alexis (Rebecca Romijn), la hermana transexual de Wilhemina, la convierten en una de las series más freascas y divertidas de la segunda mitad de la década de los 2000.
