Se trata del remake de la serie británica del mismo título. A pesar de que la serie inglesa sólo duró dos temporadas (fue cancelada por la Channel 4), la versión americano-canadiense convenció a los responsables del Showtime, que la mantuvieron en antena durante 5 temporadas.

La serie se centra en un grupo de amigos gays de la ciudad de Pittsburgh (Pensilvania). Brian (Gale Harold) es guapo y lo sabe. Es la envidia de sus amigos, pues con sus evidentes encantos, es capaz de satisfacer sus necesidades sexuales en cualquier momento y en cualquier lugar. Brian, que en su vida profesional es publicista, disfruta del sexo sin ataduras ni compromisos. No dudará en explotar sus encantos para ser el rey del Babylon, la disco de moda a la que acude con sus amigos.

Michael (Hal Sparks) es el mejor amigo de Brian, de quien secretamente está enamorado. Su eterna y deliciosa sonrisa lo convierte en el yerno que toda suegra querría tener. Es encargado de un supermercado y tiene pretendiente… femenina.

Justin (Randy Harrison) es el rubito inexperto e ingenuo de 17 años que queda prendado por Brian desde el primer capítulo. En el episodio piloto, Brian y él se lo montan hasta tres veces. Esa noche de sexo no significará lo mismo para Brian, para el que será una noche de sexo más, que para Justin, que intentará conquistar el corazón de Brian por todos los medios. ¿Lo conseguirá?

Emmett (interpretado por el actor gay Peter Paige) es el amigo más «divino» del grupo. Trabaja en una tienda de moda, Torso, y su gusto por la ropa salta a la vista, ya que siempre va bien conjuntado con sus míticas camisas transparentes. Peter Paige se ha pasado a la dirección, pues en 2005 dirigió la película «Say Uncle».

Ted (Scott Lowell) es el amigo «del montón», que no es ni guapo, ni feo, al que le cuesta ligar en las discotecas. Por eso, es tan aficionado a buscar fotos porno por Internet. Su inseguridad y timidez lo aislan de los demás, aunque de vez en cuando echará una canita al aire.

Mel (Michelle Clunie) y Lindsay (Thea Gill) forman una pareja de lesbianas, amigas del grupo. Lindsay (la rubia) acaba de ser madre del pequeño Gus por inseminación artificial, para lo cual utilizaron esperma de Brian, que es por tanto, padre. Sin embargo, Brian se comporta hedonistamente y prefiere no interferir en la educación de su hijo. Sin embargo, en ocasiones surgirán conflictos entre los tres, como cuando Mel y Lindsay decidan circundidar a Gus, con la oposición de Brian.

La veterana actriz Sharon Gless interpreta a Debbie, la madre de Michael. Trabaja en un local del barrio gay de la ciudad, con lo que es normal que vea con buenos ojos la vida de su hijo. Convertida en madre espiritual de todo el grupo, en ella encontrarán todos cobijo y consejo.

Pero lo mejor de esta serie es la naturalidad con la que se muestran las relaciones homosexuales. Multitud de besos, abrazos, caricias se podrán ver con normalidad, haciendo las delicias de los espectadores.

Física o Química

Las historias y aventuras de los alumnos y profesores del Instituto Zurbarán son los protagonistas de esta serie española, emitida por Antena 3 TV muy al estilo de Al Salir de Clase de Telecinco y otras series similares. Obtuvo una gran aceptación por parte del público adolescente.

Destacamos los personajes de Fer (Javier Calvo) y David (Adrián González), que vivirán una historia de amor.

Aquí No Hay Quien Viva

«Aquí no hay quien viva» es una comedia ambientada en un edificio de viviendas de cualquier ciudad y protagonizada por los vecinos que viven allí. Tenemos a las típicas marujas cotillas, las hermanas Marisa (Mariví Bilbao) y Vicenta (Gemma Cuervo) y la Sra. Concha (Emma Penella); una pareja gay, Fernando y Mauri (Adrià Collado y Luis Merlo, respectivamente); una típica familia, que pertenece a Juan Cuesta (José Luis Gil), el presidente de la comunidad, y la parlanchina y mandona Paloma (Loles León); una pareja hetero en eterna crisis, Lucía y Roberto (María Adánez y Daniel Guzmán); y un par de amigas que viven de alquiler, Belén y Alicia (Malena Alterio y Alicia Pamplona). Emilio, el portero (Fernando Tejero), y su padre Mariano (Eduardo Gómez), ponen la guinda de este espléndido reparto.

Posteriormente se incorporaron a la serie Bea (Eva Isanta), la compañera de piso lesbiana de Mauri, así como Andrés y Isabel «La Hierbas» (Santiago Ramon e Isabel Ordaz) y sus hijos. Abandonaron el reparto Loles León y Adrià Collado.

La serie ha cosechado grandes éxitos debido a su gran derroche de humor. Desde el punto de vista gay-lésbico, contribuye en gran medida a la normalización de personajes gays y lesbianas dentro de una serie de máxima audiencia. Posteriormente la serie fue trasladada de Antena 3 TV a Telecinco, donde pasó a llamarse La Que Se Avecina.
